Kate Spanos Irish Dance at the Maryland Folk Festival

  • Post category:Performances

This past weekend, we had an incredibly fun day performing at the Maryland Folk Festival in Salisbury, MD. What an honor to be invited and to perform with these amazing artists! I’m proud of what I’m doing with Kate Spanos Irish Dance, and it means the world to be surrounded by so much support, talent, and inspiration. I was a bit overwhelmed by the positive response from both the audience and my fellow performers. Sometimes I am working so hard that I barely have time to look up and see the impact that the work is making, and this past weekend was a reminder of what I am building and why I am doing it.

I also taught a fun céilí workshop later in the afternoon, which was great craic!

Thanks to Chris Ford at the Maryland Folk Festival and Ryan Koons and the team at Maryland Traditions at the Maryland State Arts Council.

Thanks to everyone who performed in my group, including musicians Joanna Clare, Marty Frye, David McKindley-Ward, and Abbie Palmer; and dancers Eleanore Chung, Maggie Hensler-McGinnis, Amanda Keiser, Joseph Major, Lauren Milord, Moira Ragen, and Jacqueline Zito.

Here are a few highlights from our set, which included festival style, feis style, sean nós, Comerford and Molyneaux, céilí set dancing, and our own personal styles!
